The mission of the Afforestation Section is the promotion, maintenance and conservation of the rural areas in Gozo. This is done mainly by the planting of new plants and trees, the watering of existing plants and trees, and soil conservation.
Services:
- Planting and watering seasonal plants & trees.
- Provision of the water bowser to wash the village squares & streets.
- Provision of the water bowser to wet the horse racing track at Ta’ Xħajma.
- Fill the water reservoirs at the Dawwara Nursey, Kercem Nursery, Ta’ Isopu Garden, Bus Terminus area, Tac Ċawla estate, Villa Rundle, Experimental Farm etc.
- Planting, weeding, and watering in various round-abouts in Gozo.
- Assisting Local Councils in the pruning of trees, and other gardening matters.
- Supplying free palm fronds for fishermen during “lampuki” season.
- Supplying Palm fronds & olive bunches for churches for Palm Sunday.
- Collection of green waste from Dawwara Nursery, Kerċem Nursery, Villa Rundle, Ta’ Isopu Nadur, Three Hills Gardens etc.
