SCOPE:

The Dwejra Opportunity Fund has been set up in 2018 by the Government of Malta as a direct response to the collapse of the iconic Azure Window, with the aim of turning a loss into a new opportunity for Gozo.

The fund is managed by a committee whose core objective is to seek funds in order to support research initiatives focusing on natural heritage sites or projects of a cultural nature in Gozo. The DOF committee believes that heritage preservation is an essential part of any nation that values itself.

The committee therefore seeks to promote and work towards the idea that society, as a whole, should take responsibility for its historical, cultural and natural assets.

Through a variety of public awareness and funding initiatives, the DOF Committee strives to encourage the involvement of the local community, stakeholders and interest groups to work for the common goal to ensure that Gozo’s heritage remains a source of pride and inspiration for future generations.
