SANTA MARTA DAY CENTRE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY

The main objective of the Santa Marta Day Centre is to enhance the potential of adult clients and improve their quality of life through active participation, both within the centre and in the wider community.

Once an adult with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities is accepted to attend the centre, an initial Case Conference is organised, usually in collaboration with a social worker, to develop a personalised programme. This programme is tailored to the individual’s needs, interests, and preferences, ensuring that each person benefits from meaningful and engaging activities.

Our programmes offer a rich variety of daily and weekly activities, including creative and educational sessions such as papier-mâché, pottery, mosaic-making, cookery, and IT skills. We also provide animal-assisted therapy, swimming sessions and a wide range of crafts, music, and sensory activities.

Life skills development is an important focus of the centre, with sessions that build independence, personal care, and practical abilities. Community inclusion is promoted through regular outings, which may include shopping trips, cultural visits, nature walks, and participation in local events, helping clients build confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging.

The Santa Marta Day Centre also organises recreational and social events, both within and outside the centre, to encourage interaction, creativity, and enjoyment. All activities are supervised by a dedicated team who ensure that each individual receives the care, support, and encouragement needed to thrive.

Adults with disability may be referred to Santa Marta Day Centre by their parent/s, legal guardian or any other agency by filling in the online form.
