The aim of this section is to offer services which enable the elderly and persons with disability to adjust to their changing needs and remain as independent and as active as possible.

The services offered by this section are:

– Telecare Special telephone and pendent to receive help at the push of a button.

– Telephone Rent Rebate Applicants who have a pink card are entitled to telephone rent rebate.

– Handyman Service – Minor maintenance jobs and repairs.

– Incontinence Service – This service is provided to persons with incontinence problems. This service is for persons over 60 years of age     and for persons with special needs.

– Home Help – A service for persons over 65 years of age and persons with special needs, assistance in cleaning, carrying out errands,         shopping and collecting medicine.

– Meals on Wheels – Daily home delivery of a 3-course meal for persons over 60 years of age and persons with special needs.

– Hairdresser Service offered to bedridden, wheelchair bound, and house bound persons.

– Physiotherapy Service offered to bedridden, wheelchair bound and house bound persons.

– Day Centre – A social outlet for persons residing in the community.

– Home Admission Service to enter in an elderly home.

– University of 3rd Age Lectures which are of interest to elderly persons are held at the University Gozo Campus between October and       June.

– Respite (San Lawrenz Home) – This service is provided to persons who are dependent on their relatives.

– Casa Amalia Day Centre – A Day Centre for the elderly suffering from Dementia. It also serves as a night shelter.

– Night Shelter (Xagħra) – A night shelter for the Elderly.

– Be Active Exercises and Yoga are offered to the Elderly.

– Active Ageing Centre – Talks, Crafts and Exercises are held for the Elderly.

– Social Work – Assistance to the elderly within the community who have social problems.

– Grocery and Medicine Shopping Service – This service is aimed for those living in their own home and on their own, but who, due             to various reasons cannot leave their residence. Persons who benefit from Home Help service cannot benefit from this service.
